Do you ever laugh when someone so unqualified signs a bid? Why do they do this?
I work in a factory and see this all the time. I hear about it from the guys who'll be stuck trying to train these fktards, too.
It's one of the few---but definitely wasteful and maybe even dangerous---downsides to having a union: everybody is entitled to bid on any non company job at all. The 92 I.Q. guy has the same odds of being granted a shot as the dude with mechanical engineering know-how.
It's because they want more money and dont want to be the "servant" to those in a higher position.
Case in point we had a courtesy clerk sign a bid for checker position. When our FE asked about it, his response was "I'm not interested in cashier work, I'm just tired of checkers telling me to do this and that and get carts, sweeps, carryout, and go-backs. When I'm a checker, I don't do that anymore."
The courtesy clerk's name was removed from the bid list before the ink on his signature even dried.
