Didn't get my Christmas holiday pay

So I checked my pay stub over and noticed that although it was on there that I got holiday pay for that week, the final payout after deductions came out as a regular check. I asked one of the supervisors, who does payroll when the main employee is off, to look into it. I was told that it was because I only worked four days. If it helps, I'm unavailable on Saturdays. But I did work Christmas Eve, and I asked a few others if they got their holiday pay. They did. I plan on talking to the main payroll person. If it's because of me off on Saturdays I can accept that. Could that be a factor?

Were you scheduled on Saturday?  If you were scheduled but didn't work, then that's probably why you didn't get your holiday pay.  Even if you worked a different day to make up for it, the computer still thinks you missed a day of work.  I don't know if payroll can make an adjustment on your next check since I've never been in your situation before.

Under our contract, you have to work there a year in order to get Christmas holiday pay.

You do not get it if you are scheduled the day before or the day after and you call in on one of those days.

If you are part time, you should get at least 4 hours holiday pay.

You need to find out what your contract says.  You might need to ask the union steward about it.

better hope your steward is competent. Ours is an idiot, but the union wont do anything about it.

OP here. I changed my schedule some years ago and I put down unavailable for Saturday. I don't work on a Saturday at all. I just want to know if that would be a factor.

 It was a holiday week and the store was closed Christmas Day.  Many people only worked four days and they got their holiday pay.  I always get three days off during holiday weeks.  The only thing my contract says about holiday pay is:

      Employees who absent of their own accord during a holiday week shall only be paid for hours worked unless the absence is caused by a proven illness or is excused by the employer.

 That should not be a factor.  You should have been paid unless you called in during the week or your contract is different than mine.

OP once again. In a way it did. And to Anonymouse, different contracts could also be it. I  did get the holiday pay but because Christmas was on a Friday and I was off the following Saturday, that's why my check is the way it is.
