OK, so I will ask a stupid question...................as a Kroger employee of several years, I don't know what you mean (in this instance) by the word "Bid".    I supposed it isn't relevant to my dept or position at Kroger.... so I'm clueless here.  But I would still like to understand stuff discussed on this forum.   Exactly what are you talking about?  Just wondering. Thanx.

Bids are signup sheets that are posted in the breakroom for department head, backup, or other fulltime positions. I didn't start hearing about them until 5 years into working there as I climbed to the top of the seniority ladder.

You don't have to have any standing just to sign them but keep in mind that you're more than likely not going to get them unless you're either the only one to sign or you have top seniority in your department.

Thank you BagBoy!!  I have seen those "job openings sheets" posted by the union in my breakroom also but I didn't know they were called "Bids".  Appreciate the info.
