Do not punch in the 8 mark. It will round and subtract 15 min

Most of us already know the time clock rules but for those not aware of this one rule:

Do not punch in the 8 mark. It will round and subtract 15 min from your paycheck!

After someone called them out for this by this lawsuit agreement they are to fix this. If they fail to do so file a union grievance.

The 7 min leeway mark is not to abuse. Most people take advantage of this but in departments that rely on you being on time this actually hurts them. It is designed for people running a little late, there's a line at the time clock to still be able to punch in on time and not get docked pay. It bugs the hell out of me when people abuse this privilege. Sure 15 min a day x 2 = 30 min a day you still get full pay but don't have to work. x 5 days a week = 2.5 hrs not working but still receive full pay. if management tries to write you up for this they can't. If they do file a union grievance.

If I'm ever 8 minutes late punching in for shift or 8 minutes late coming back from lunch, I just stay 8 minutes over.  The one exception to that is when my shift starts before the store opens.  If I get there on time and I can't get in because nobody will come and unlock the door, then I'm writing down my time in time log as being on time.

Abusing this knowledge should be punished. Running a little late is one thing, running to the time clock the moment you have seven minutes left is another.
