Theft has been extremely high at my store lately and today I had a customer walk out without paying at USCAN. Does Kroger have procedures for people who walk out but have their Kroger card information left on the transaction ?

If they've no intention of paying, why on earth would they swipe any card?

Big Box retail has done this themselves. Their unbridled greed is now costing them millions every year, and the price is rising. Add into that the super rich who already own and control everything increasingly cost gouging the sh!t out of everything, and we're gonna be seeing a whole brand NEW pandemic-----only of real theft, not some phantom virus.

As for as 'procedures' to stop shop lifting, there are so many laws that protect thieves now, that most retailers have backed off all but boogey man scare show attempts. Anything under 1 K and prosecutors won't mess with it. Oh, you may get pinched now and again (only if you're sloppy), but the worst they'll do is try to scare you.

Remember: if a store's goons try to detain you, yell loud enough the whole place can hear, 'you are not law enforecement! Back off or I will defend myself against you any way I have to!!'

I actually did that once about a year ago. Worked like a charm. biggrin

Thats a long ass response above, who has time to read that better yet who the **** has time to type it? A ****ing nobody

To answer the question, yes Kroger has a way of tracking people down if they put in a Kroger card and dont pay for groceries. Just ask your FEM and they should relay to loss prevention

Kroger could always say in response: return the product, or we well retrieve it from you by any means necessary. Give the thieves a chance to comply before physically taking it from them.

annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd that's right when I pepper mace they ass. Ever took it to the face like that? You quickly forget all about what you were tryna do to someone.

And I'd be legally covered, too. It's called self defense.

Again: their goons are NOT law enforcement.

No no no no.  All of you are thinking about this all wrong.

Consider this from the perspective of loss prevention.

It's just you.  For 30 stores.

30 stores worth of tweakers and homeless stealing everything all day (and especially all night).  But you're only scheduled 9:00-:5:00 with NO OVERTIME EVER **** YOU NO THEFT HAS EVER OCCURRED AFTER 5:00 PM.

How much are you getting paid, really?

Not enough to get poked with an HIV needle.

And the police won't even show up for anything less than a felony.

Employees are the only possible target.  **** it.  You got a receipt for that?

You got their name, schedule, birthday, phone number, social security number, mother's maiden name, favorite color, everything.

Employees on needle drugs get themselves fired before you get to intervene (means a lot considering the union), and Pacific Handy Cutters are circumcised and barely extend past the thumb guard.

Food deserts are a thing for a reason.  When it comes to monstrous amoral corporations, profit comes before petty racism.

Now is the best time to steal your ass off. Stores so busy so many people just packed in like rats. not enough eyes to watch every one. Id like to now thank Kroger for this upcoming thanksgiving feast it was all freeeeeeee!

Kroger decided a long time ago they didn't want to be liable so they just let them have it now. Can't do anything either.

I use to like self check out but got tired of being scolded for the decision of not stopping someone for theft. Legally we can't do squat about it. sco actually creates a lot of theft in it self because of the programming. Customers also think their slick by pretending to scan items in relaity we know we cna't can't do sh--it about it.

they have relationships with many members of the community including every kind of criminal

they are trying to get all information about everyone all the time

heard of Vladimir Putin? how he works?

do not do or say anything in the store that would make them notice you and do as the manager says

they don't limit their activities to the store

good luck
