Tired of customers stealing pens
Permalink

When we loan pens to you we expect them back. When you write checks don't keep the pen. This is why we never loan our personal pens.

It has been well known for a couple decades that if you want to write a check you need to bring your own damn pen!

I never bring my good pens to work. I buy the cheaper ones and keep tons in my locker and 5-6 on me. That if a customer asks to borrow a pen I can let them use it..

Although I only lost about 2-3 pens via customers borrowing them. Rarely will a customer keep my pens.

I loose more when I let co-workers borrow them or I leave them laying around after using them.

Read "customer" appearance carefully. Note douchebag or lady-acting-all-sweet appearance. Maybe say no. Let the manager lend out pens. Also, if pen is loaned, you have one job - to get it back. Eyes on pen. Provide assistance with pen return as needed.

Sweet troll thread.  I really like this one.

There's actually two topics here.  Check writing, and pen theft.

And there's only two kinds of customers who write checks: Civil War widows, and criminals.

We don't get many Civil War widows these days.

Pen theft is crazy, but either it's on purpose, or it's subconscious.  So nothing you do actually matters.

We have absolutely retarded sales on stationery after "Back to School".

So, I bought several hundred pens to put at the service desk for employees.

Gone.  Quick.  Fast.  Hard.  Dang.

Next time, I left an entire pack of loose pens at each register.

Gone.  Quick.  Fast.  Hard.  Dang.

These days, if someone needs a pen, it's all laughs while someone calls for management.  It's much more funny not to have a pen.  Or say that I don't.

Even better, don't write checks in the first place and pay with cash or a card like everyone else
