I'm a courtesy clerk with the most seniority at my store. I'm scheduled the opening shifts and unless I'm assigned to clean due to the utility clerk not scheduled on certain days, I usually get the carts in. I've been there for some years and I was always told that every morning that the area in the lobby where the carts are stored must be completely full. This includes using carts outside the back door which is referred to the reserves or backup carts. Throughout the day it's up to the courtesy clerk to use them in case the cart count is low and the lot doesn't have too many.

Apparently I was told by a supervisor that instead of getting carts from the lot all I do is just push in the reserves. First off, this supervisor is incompetent in so many ways and they are constantly on a power trip. Plus, since I've learned to weed out certain coworkers from others, I knew I was being handed a line when the supervisor was naming names.

So my work ethic was questioned, and lies were made up to cover the tracks. On top of that, I have to change from doing the job right to doing it however is convenient for everyone else. So I'm just going to get carts from the lot and just shove them in the lobby. No more doing it the right way. No more trying to help everyone else out. And if I'm still singled out, I'm going to ask what am I supposed to do, because no matter what it still won't be done right according to somebody else.

That's too many words for a phone keyboard.

Walmart and McDonald's are hiring and pay significantly more.

You might even get better or even regular hours.

Thank you Mr Obvious. I didn't need your so-called reminder about my job. Anything else obvious that you think should be pointed out to anyone else that knows how to do their job, please let them know too. confuseblankstarehmmyawndisbeliefnodohbleh

I thought parking lot maintenence is responsible for landscape watering and cleanliness. I NEVER watered flowers outside in the lot (exception is if we sold the flowers and had them on display for sale outside) I also NEVER cleaned the parking lot. (Again, that is parking lot maintenence job....NOT mine). The ONLY thing I cleaned was the area outside our store...like the sidewalk area DIRECTLY IN FRONT of our store.

Whatever Kroger tells you to do you have to do it. Kroger pays you to work not complain and be lazy. Do you know the meaning of job?

Our store doesn't have parking lot maintenance like yours. The landscape areas are handled either by local mowing/gardening businesses or through the city maintenance. I don't know which. And as for watering plants that is taken care of by our floral department. So, yeah, the sidewalk out front was took care of by the courtesy clerks.

Am I paid to be a gardener? No.

Am I paid to do parking lot cleaning? No.

They get paid MORE than I do. So why should I do what parking lot maintenance gets paid to do for courtesy clerk wages?

Pay me their wage in addition to my own, and I'll do it. Until then, I do just what I am paid to do., nothing more.

What are some of the WEIRDEST things youve seen get left in the carts/parking lot?   I once found two tires.

It was a long time ago but it still gets me to this day. I found a men's magazine in a cart, the cart was in a corral, and the corral had a trash can right next to it. Riiiiiggggghhhhht. Just leave that in there for some little kid to find it instead of walking the few steps to the trash can. I went ahead and threw it in the trash of course. Other lesser weird items were a kid's car seat and a kid's earth globe science toy.

Hey, mr. self-entitled-worthless-with-no-life-skills-lazy-moronic-idiot, if you think that someone else should clean up after you all the time, I wouldn't want to see how your residence looks. Try showing some courtesy instead of being lower than a dirt worm.

Yeesh! Where is your store located and how often does this happen? It almost sounds like a dumpster diver's dream.

Do you dream about piss bottles and McDonald's bags full of greasy napkins and empty ketchup packets?

I got a wet dream for you right here.  I mean, not here.  In the trash cans, maybe in the dumpster.  Please get out of my lap, sir.

Seriously, though, we're hiring.

At least 12 hours a week.  Near minimum wage.  Never the same shift twice in a row, nor at the same time of day.

If you could do better, you would.

Courtesy clerking is only for children and retards.

Imagine my shock when it turns out that even a retard can tell when management is incompetent.

Do you know the meaning of job?

Yes.  Them Old Testament tales.

Do you know the meaning of the Jefferson Bible?

That would be the utility clerks job.

Returning go-backs

Have someone scheduled just to do that.

Assisting cashiers in bagging orders.

Cleaning break room, cust eating areas.

That would be the utility clerks job.

Obtaining merch for customers upon request

Courtesy clerks Job not Utility Clerk

Filling front end with supplies such as bags, filling up cleaning bottles, supplying other items needed.

Both Courtesy clerks and Utility Clerk can do this.

Watering flowers outside.

That is the person working in the floral departments job.

C.c. job duties will be in your union contract book under courtesy clerk. Please familiarize yourself with it.

Now these are my rules. Familiarize yourself with them.

Also, I took the time to edit your grammar. That should have been taught in elementary school. And BTW there

Is a such tool called grammar check that should have been taught in basic computer class. Another thing to add about the floral department. The people in floral should be watering flowers. Also, they should sweep the sidewalk of any debris from flowers. And people who smoke should either put their butt in the butt can or sweep their butts up. I am not your maid. Utility Clerks have a bunch of work to do. They do deserve some help and honestly everyone should help everyone and yes that means maybe sometimes water flowers but not every day.

Courtesy clerk is just a fancy word for grocery store janitor. Your job duties include but are not limited to:

Retrieving carts from the parking lot.

Cleaning up spills

Ive taken to photographing the stuff I see.  I call it my hunting trophies.  Fluorescent tube lightbulb, the mentioned tires, what looked to be a tinted back window of a car, and a bucket of various kids toys.  Im always like: Our parking lot is NOT your ****ing dumping ground!

Thats your job though. Clean it up.

Hey, mr. self-entitled-worthless-with-no-life-skills-lazy-moronic-idiot, if you think that someone else should clean up after you all the time, I wouldn't want to see how your residence looks. Try showing some courtesy instead of being lower than a dirt worm.

My place is spotless. Of course you would spout off a typical knee-jerk reaction lie.

I just chuck my trash You are what you throw on the ground.

I'm not sure what type of person you are dictating this to, but they are either young or stupid not to use spellcheck or proofread what they wrote. And I say it's someone else since you are too backwatered to do it yourself. Oh well, stay in your mindset. Perhaps local Renaissance fair is hiring someone to be their jester and you are certainly qualified for the position.

So you managed to actually move forward a century or two. I'm still not impressed since it seems according to the obvious spelling errors that you cannot type and you made the glaring mistake of trying to insult one's intelligence and yet admitting, in the same sentence, that one actually is intelligent. But then again, such stupidity is to be expected from a proletariat like you

another cool story bRo. Most of you people on here are idiots anyway so yall understand everything people type on here. Dropped my empty bottle and empty chip bag on your lot just now. So pick it up when you clock in today. Pleb.

More cool stories! bRo looking up words on google to pretend hes smart. no The best you could do in youre life was a lowly career at Kroger picking up my trash Just pathetic.

I once found a home stereo receiver. It worked good for years. The power cord was cut off for some reason. I just put another one on. I guess they thought the person who found it would not know how to put another one on.
