District 7 attendance and tardy change of policy
Permalink

Hi all I was just wondering if any of you guys have heard of the new attendance and tardy policy where they are lumping tardies and missed work into the same category??? Im Just confused because the union hasnt said anything and we havent received a read and sign on it. Just wondering how valid this is or if its just more fake rules from our district manager. Thank you!

Best just to ask the shop steward or union rep.  If the district manager is changing the rules without union approval, then the union will fight it.

But, my opinion is that the union is in the back pocket of kroger and is slowly selling the workforce down the river with each new contract.  Only my opinion.

Kroger's attendance policy:

Can have up to 3 call outs a month. No questions asked.

If you take more than 3 days in a row require dr note.

Must call out 2 hrs before shift talk to store manager on duty. They will/should pass message to department. If you work when store hours are closed and you know n.c. won't answer phone must  call out the day before store closes. Miss the dead line just get a damn dr note.

If you have high call outs they can enact the attendance policy on you.

If your store varies from this they are not following kroger's policy and you can challenge it.

In the Local 1996 Atlanta GA area we have to call out a minimum of 3 hours before. In our Union contact we can clock in 7 minutes early or 7 minutes after (anything after 7 minutes is considered late.) Never heard of the other policies but I wonder if every Division has different policies on this

There's no need to say, "Only my opinion" when it's the truth.  Luckily I got in before they started making all the changes.  For example, I get three days off during a holiday week.  If I work over 32 hours, it's overtime.  People hired within the last ten years don't get three days off and only get overtime if they go over 40 hours.  In other words, it's like a regular week.  The only difference is everyone gets additional pay for the holiday.  For full timers it's 8 hours.  Part timers get 4 or 6 hours depending on what they normally work.  I also get 6 weeks vacation.  If you were hired within the last ten years, it's a maximum of 5 weeks.

I have heard of this (not my district) but yes people have reported of new attendance policy switching to a point merit system. Posts on reddit have been made regarding this.

I have worked other companies that require strict attendance and are actually held accountable for their actions. Kroger is pretty slack on it and I've seen people slip through the cracks and get  away with like a lot at this company. Other companies most of you people would not last a few months in the real world. You have no idea how slack you have it.

Not at all surprised kroger eventually went to some sort of system to actually make people show up to work.

The shi---ty part about this now with minute pay is.. Well here's a few scenarios:

if you can not get your phone to punch in and it takes like 3 min to get the damn thing to work. There's one point gone right there. I tried posting this quote on reddit but you people down voted me on it and when you experience this first hand you'll think twice about that down vote.

Traffic is bad one day and you didn't realize it when you left or you gave your self like 20 min more but instead needed 40 min. Good bye a couple points. The leeway system was nice as if you came in late even just 15 min late you didn't loose all that much time. Get into an accident on the way (not at fault or fault) good bye a couple points.

Family emergency until dr note can change it to clerical error good bye a couple points.

Endless scenarios pop into mind. You people that downvoted me on this suggestion on reddit are probably the ones that will start to go wtf when they start enacting it and you experience it.

I'm from a different district. Probably far from you. It's probably fake news.
