First off, a little background info. I'm a type 2 diabetic. I know those that are reading this are probably thinking of the usual. Sedentary lifestyle, ate too much junk food, etc. Mine is actually hereditary as it's on both sides of my family and I do keep it in control. The problem I'm having is that covermymeds.com keeps rejecting one of my medications that my doctor, my actual physician that I've been going to way before this started, has prescribed to me. I talked to the pharmacists and the information they provided me was that covermymeds rejected this medication was, get this, "trial of other alternatives required." Um, no, not happening. I'm not going to experiment with my health for something that will cost more than this medication, and it's already expensive, mess with me from the God-knows-what side effects, or both. So, because of that, and that I have an appointment with my doctor coming up in a few weeks, I'm not only going to have my doctor look into this, but I'm going to have this medication transferred to the Walmart pharmacy which the store it's in is just up the road from my store. I won't these online HMO jackasses mess with my health.
That sounds a lot like something your insurance might require. If you're paying out of pocket then they are just being jerks. I just had a problem with my pharmacy not filling my insulin for a week because they "we think you might be taking too much", like, they have the right to overrule my doctor on INSULIN.

It has nothing to do with the pharmacists. It's the covermymeds that are screwing me over. They did this once before and at that time when I was trying to get the same prescription refilled covermymeds started this mess and the pharmacists told me that covermymeds should have called my doctor. I talked to my doctor and no call or anything. I'm done with this mess. I'm having the medication transferred.
It could just be them being jerks but it could also just be your insurance. Around this time of year is when new policies go into place. Something may have changed with your insurance.
If you have problems getting it refilled at the new pharmacy too ask the pharmacist if it requires a "pre-auth". If it does then call your doctor and tell them that you need a "pre-auth" for your medication. Pre-authorizations are annoying and some insurance providers require new ones every 3-6 months.
Never EVER trust a pharmacist when they say they will "call your doctor". There has never been a time when this has actually had a positive outcome for me.
