1. Customers who put their produce in those white bags and pull the string tight-almost impossible to get the items out
2. People who say "I don't have to show you ID" (mostly for smokes)
3. Customers who use their KrogerPlus card and still get the 10 percent employee discount-when they don't work for Kroger anymore
4. People who EAT their item while in the store and give me the empty box/tray/sandwich wrapper to ring up (isn't that considered stealing eating it before paying?)
5. "Oh I forgot something"-holding up the customer behind them

Anyone else?!?
As far as #3 goes, it shouldn't bother you if a former employee still gets a discount. It has no effect on you whatsoever. I definitely think that people who retire from Kroger with 20 or more years of service should get to keep their employee discount.
When it comes to #4, be thankful that they're at least honest about it.
The one thing that bugs me and everybody else who has to deal with it is people who want me to stop what I'm doing and mark something down for them. I've always said that if I owned a bakery, I would never mark anything down. All it does is attract vultures.
who THINK it's a "good idea" to thrust their phone in my face. THINKING it will work when it 10001% WILL NOT if I am working a picklist order ASK where ONE item is.
I WILL NOT shop YOUR order for you. That's YOUR job.or wait your f*cking turn.
Original poster here: I forgot to add Instacart shoppers. They hold up other customers with sometimes up to 4 orders. There needs to be a limit of ONE per order.

Totally agree-Kroger says we should "escort" the customer to where the item is. I had to do that at Office Depot-and I sure as h*** won't do it at Kroger. We are NOT babysitters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't consider Instacart and Door Dash people to be real customers.

They are. But more of a "middle-person." I doordash from time to time, but guess what? I do not thrust my phone in employee faces. I actually LOOK for the item on my own ONLY asking for help if I CANNOT find it.
I do my own shopping. I do not expect associates to do the job for me.
You guys arent even CLOSE to the most obnoxious! For one, what about the customers who see the moldy peaches, fuzzy tomatoes, rotten apples, shriveled-up corn and blackened basil in the box of trash at the bottom of your cart and ask if they can be red-bagged? Then, how about the customers who decide to grab some red bags off your cart and decide to make their OWN red bags? I mean, our stores red-bag percentage is fairly high, and honestly, if you saw the types of produce were getting in, you would KNOW why! But, people, let US make up the bags! If you find something in bad shape, but still sellable, and ask nicely, well red bag it, but come on, you cant just take it upon yourself to make your own bags with whatever you deem red-baggable, even if it is unblemished! Next thing, everyone will be doing that! Then, youve got the customers who throw their date and cherry pits everywhereWeve even found peach pits, half-eaten apples and banana peels in strange places! Dont get me started on the people who throw frozen meat in with the bread or decide to put a bag of apples in the dairy bunkers or leave cold milk out on a hot day! Who does that? Then, there are those who fill up a bag with tomatoes and then, decide not to buy them and leave them there or in another department! Then, you have days when there are no deliveries or the department manager decides to make a light order the day before due to an upcoming inventory and either way, you are light on inventory and a customer inquires several times if a certain product is in the back and when you say no, they ask if you are absolutely sure you do not have that product. And all the while, you want to tell them that if you had the product, it would have been put out already! But, you look, and 75% of the time, you still come up empty-handed. Yet, they ask and do not take no for an answer! Once in a while, you might get a customer who demands to know why the lettuce is so wet, despite it being directly under the misters. Some will not buy anything from Mexico, but they scoff at paying higher prices for produce items grown in America. Maybe it is just cheaper to grow certain items in Mexico, cheaper to hire labor and maybe, just maybe the weather conditions are better for certain types of produce??? Wait until they all start complaining of empty shelves and we cant tell them anything other than its the high tariffs that caused that! Sure, there can be ordering issues, supply issues and other extemporaneous circumstances (like weather, migrant labor issues, honeybees dying out, etc.) out of our control, but I have a feeling this summer is going to be shocking for a lot of businesses, but many cant see it yet! And then, you have the customers who come in five minutes before closing and say that they only need a few things, and even worse, its a Saturday night after a large crowd came in and there was no delivery truck for that day and then wonder why were out of everything! Maybe come in sooner and on a day when we have more product? I get that people have work schedules and other priorities, but there used to be a time in this country when people bought items seasonally and knew that there were just certain times when you couldnt get certain things. Now, people expect you to have everything in every variety 24/7 365 days a year and its simply not realistic! Do I need to mention once again the migrant labor shortage, honeybee pollination issues or even diseases like greening disease affecting the citrus crops? You think its bad now? Just you wait! And these things are only the TIP of the iceberg! The retail industry as a whole, and not just us, will be in for a rude awakening, if they dont see whats coming and Ive only pointed out a fraction of it! As regarding the obnoxious things customers do, I could go on and on there, too, but maybe you guys have more to share?
