"Hero pay" was Kroger's way of expressing Hazard pay and incentivizing their employees to still come to work during the pandemic. I believe the program ended some time ago.

Was only active during covid and in select cities. Even well after coivd and people still spreading viruses and not wearing masks right... we still don't get any extra pay. Hell store hours are down company wide and I'm beginning to suspect early signs of could be something larger coming. I've worked a few companies that eventually closed and kroger is displaying some of those signs: Severely cutting hours and giving staff scraps of hours. Not filling shelves as full as they could go or doing store remodels to reduce product on the shelves. Store closures of under performing locations. Repetitive layoffs of non union positions. It might just be a hunch but the patterns show similarity to other company closures. I decided to enact the first part of my plan b (education) as I didn't like the way I was being treated nor respected.
