I came into work the other day to realize that about 20 of the cashiers in our store had been written up poor their poor ring tender scores? Can they do this? Ring tender is such a dumb system that measures in absolutely no way how fast a cashier is!!! Is there any sort of action we can take?
we dont even have 20 cashiers, lol. but yeah ring tender affects the hours & budget so i can see why. our store wants 90% and above but our average is 83% cause of some old ppl with 60%.
We had some checkers who use to "cheat" to avoid management intervention. During slow hours, the checker would sign off on their register in between customers and then sign back on when customers came up. It kept their numbers down.
lol we often sign off too in between customers just so it reports that the FE manager is "dipping." Anyway, we asked our union representative if they were allowed to write us up for ring tender, and she said that they have trie din in the past and the union said know. We then told our supervisors and they threw all of the write ups away!!! Make sure they know this if your store tries similar things.
