So my schedule keeps changing from week to week. It is not consistent as my hours vary wildly from one week to the next. I have complained about this and keep getting the same company line : "Full time means full availability !" Yeah but I cannot work a second job to support my family becaus...

My step-daughter worked at a cashier at Kroger for over 2 years. Last night the manager called her into his office and fired her (with a union steward present) for taking a bad coupon from the a customer on two occasions. She never got any warnings prior to the firing. The other third shift cashier al...

I don't know who the idiots are who come up with these stupid ideas but this one takes the cake, so to speak. For those of you who aren't familiar with cake sizes, a full sheet cake is roughly 24"x16", a half sheet is 16"x12", a 1/4 sheet is 12"x8", and a 1/8 sheet is 8&quo...

My last vacation of the year has come to and end and I don't get another one for 3 months. I know some people say that if they're off for a while they can't wait to get back to work. I don't think I could ever have that problem. I still have 20 years before I can collect Social Security but I'm ready to reti...

Well at my store since the first of November, when we traditionally start getting busy, managment has started cutting hours, especially on the front end. So all we do is go to the front to bag, because all the baggers are getting stuck on a register. Is this happening anywhere else?

I'm extremely curious to find out if/how many other employees out there have encountered an expectation/acceptance of working off the clock. Night crew foreman is treated as a salary position, especially with the key retailing policies in place and ELMS. Anyone??? This is illegal and against...

So I've been working as a cashier and u-scan attendent for about 6 months now. It's alright. Anyway, the opportunity has arisen for me to transfer to the pharmacy (the lady that hired me is pissed, but I hate her anyway). I am a biology student and I feel that having worked in a pharmacy would look a little...

I have worked in a Marketplace for 3 years. I have been in frozen food up until a month ago when the store manager decided to move me to the meat department to do lunchmeat because the person who had been doing it was failing. Now, after a month of working my butt off in lunchmeat he wants to move me back to f...

Does anybody have the same problem we have in my store? I work in Dairy, as backup. When my manager is off - and it is backstock day - no one but myself is scheduled in the dairy until late afternoon. On these days I have to write orders, completely fill up a case in the floral department, condition, do markd...

One of the more pastimes I have at work is to chat with the Pepsi vendor when he comes in while I'm filling ice cream. Being within the same age range (our 20s), we hold a lot of the same viewpoints in common. As we all know, there are few things more amusing than stupid customer stories. He and I share a lot of...

I upset a fellow co-worker today and he said "I'm going to murder you." At the time I was too busy trying to work out the issue but after talking to some friends they think I should go to management... I'm pretty sure it was a heat of the moment thing. I apologized for my oversight that had inconv...

I work in the front end as a cashier, and recently a lot of the other cashiers also have had our hours cut down from 30ish hours to at most 17 a week. And the worst part is, we have almost no baggers scheduled. Maybe it's the quevision we just started to use? Has this happened at anyone else's store?

While at work today in the deli, our CSR called for all departments to help up front. she called three times right in a row and I was trying to make the sandwiches and hotdogs they want us to have out at four. So I couldn't go the second they hollered. Finally the dept. back-up tells me to go up front or t...

I've been told by several other employees that I should have recieved a second vacation on my 3rd anniversary, but I haven't and HR can't even tell me (she's a nut). They were renegotiating the union contract not too lon...
