So, I was recently hired by Kroger (though I'm honestly leery about it now) for cashier. The equipment we have is just so messed up that the scales don't register weighted items, the scanners don't read half of the barcodes, the things will friggin' ring double of an item without it even scanning an it...
So, as of right now, I am the backup Customer Service Coordinator at my Kroger, but I've been offered a spot in the deli by the head of the meat department. I was wondering how tough the deli is, and how hard the learning curve/adjustment would be from going from front end to meat department. Any advice? S...
He wanted some Skoal so I went to get it. When I got back to my register he asked if I was going to ID him. I said yes, I was just looking at your eyes, checking for crows feet lol! I harassed him a little over his picture. Glad his ID checked out, what would I have done?
Just a few hours ago, I was literally slammed by a dept head and my FE supervisor. This is what happened. Dept head comes up to te FE where I am checking and asks where so and so is. I tell her jokingly 'I mailed him to China.' She asks again an I give te same response. You CAN tell it was a joke because EVEN the co...
... it would seem corporate's "solution" is to staff stores with more co-managers and use them to "fill" in the gaps. I don't know how widespread this is becoming, but I know at my store, we're up to seven co-managers. At another store which I have friends that work at, that store...
Back in 2013, I asked that Kroger stop taking the automatic weekly United Way donations out of my check, due to the tax holiday not being renewed that had been in place for a number of years... making my paycheck much smaller. Now, I notice that they are taking it out again ($1 a week). I have neither bee...
Last year when the minimum wage went up 15 cents I got a 15 cents raise starting from January 2014. This year the minimum wage went up another 15 cents, but I did not get a raise. I'm at $8.30 now and I'm a certified pharmacy tech, shouldn't I be getting $8.45 starting from January 2015? Just wondering, 15 c...
About my pay rate, next job stop, etc... In regards to "Accrued Credit Quantity" and "Quantity Remaining," does this mean that since my last pay raise I have made $258.75, and have to make another $241.25 before my next pay rate increase?
I haven't seen our paper schedule yet. This week we had myself and a few other courtesy clerks with around 12 hours. But I have them again next week. I wonder if the FEM whom I have written about so much on here is sending a 'lesson' or if it's a repeat again. I will have to see the paper schedule to find out. On...
I'm working a 2-10 Tuesday night and then coming back 6-2 Wednesday morning and you don't see me complaining about it, but my schedule writer was scheduled 2-10 Saturday night. The schedule writer says that if I do not trade her and work the 2-10 Saturday then she will schedule me to open (6am) Sunday mo...
Ok I'm a college student & part-time courtesy clerk at Kroger. I started working there in August 2013. Around the beginning of 2014 there were Union representatives on the prowl at my job. I was tracked down by the reps & being persuaded to join the Union(all while on the clock & trying to w...
I've been sick with a stomach virus for 3 days now. Today on the third day, I was hoping that I would be able to go in to work but I haven't been able to stay out of the bathroom. I was waiting the whole day until two hours before my shift, which is Kroger policy, to call in. So, I call my manager and tell him I can'...
A department head in my store filed a grievence because there is no lead for the diary at this time. The lead person left and as far as i know no one has been put in that position. Can this put a strain on a dept head and the store management??
Okay so, if you take a week vacation do you get paid for the vacation during the vacation week or your next paycheck? I assumed my next paycheck but it seems like theyre paying me twice this week..
I'm not talking about my availability, I already know how to do that. I'm asking if there is a way I can change how many hours I have to work in one week online. Right now they have me working 26 hours and I would like to work 15-20.
As an assistant grocery head, shouldn't I be trained on receiving? Neither my dept. head nor I are properly trained for it. I could be wrong but isn't there something wrong here? I'm certified... but all that means is that I can take a test....
Hi guys. I'm scheduled to run the self checkout in a few days, but I'm a bit concerned. I've only briefly been shown what to do and I never actually did it before. Frankly, I don't absorb a whole lot by just watching someone. On my original couple of training days they forgot to do it with me so I never wa...
