I work as a utility clerk and my manager is scheduling outside my availability due to school being out on that day. Does the Union protect me from this? Is there anything I can do or do I just have to accept that my availability is laughable to my manager?

Have any of your contracts been opened up and put to a vote to increase wages for new hires recently? Apparently this is something the company wants to do in order to be able to hire people. Kroger didn't want to give grandfathered employees an increase, but were forced to by the union.

If it gets busy, they are required to call other departments to come up and surge check rather than get on themselves....
