I'm just wondering, are promotions based on experience or seniority? Let's say I've been in a department for a year or two, and the department manager is telling someone that has been there for 6mo. that he's going to make him a department head. Can he do that? Or is the position supposed to be made avai...
Cashiers: How would you deal with these types of customers? The one's who are deliberately slow, especially when you are scanning as quickly as possible? You know that they are capable of catching on that you need to keep the line moving, but they feel that as a customer, they should be able to take as lo...
I am a utility clerk working 16 hours a week. Where as I USED to get 20-30 hours. "Reducing hours" they say. We are busy as f*co though. Now, I have a HUGE credit card debt I am trying to pay off. (NOT my debt...but my fault because I'm too nice at times and let family use up my card . Now 16 hours isn't enough to...

So just learned that deli and bakery hours got cut again. And although I was told that, they would make sure that I had a minimum of 32 hours as is my due as a full-timer now in times of cut hours. I could still bump someone with less seniority, as long as it didn't put them below 15 hours. My question is, how do...
It's been 5 weeks now since I've been doing Uscan exclusively everyday, 2nd shift, giving me a very nice 40 hours a week for 5 weeks! Before that I was getting between 32 and 38 hours a week, randomly, being on the registers. I haven't been on a register in a freaking month... I'm not complaining by any mea...
Well I've been away from Kroger for a little over a year now, but it was the political primary season when I was let go. I still got UFCW newsletters until after the 2016 election season. As most of you know the UFCW is heavily affiliated with Democratic candidates. When they send out endorsements on...
Cell phones. I bought one online, keep in my back pocket, covered up by my apron and jams all call within 50 ft when its on low power. This really irritates people when they approach my line. It also effects the handheld guns, so if they are using it within 50 ft I turn it off. But it is so cool to see people rea...

So at my store I'm being forced to be a responder, there really isn't a lot of choices at the moment since they won't allow produce to respond anymore. It's really down to a few of us, and we are almost always cashiering because of it. Someone in our district sold to someone underage and lost their job, so n...
When I was hired on 2 years ago I was told that I will work in the meat department no where else was I told to work at. But now I have to go bag for the morons. I don't get two paychecks which I should but don't. Isn't there something the union can do for us not having to go up there and "help" them out? W...
